Bus transport in Boulder is always popular with visiting tourists wishing to travel between attractions, and a variety of different named bus routes around the city itself, such as the 'Hop', the 'Skip' and also the 'Jump' routes, which depart several times an hour.

Boulder is conveniently close to the USA's premier airport, Denver International Airport (DEN), where a selection of ground transport options await, including all of the big names in the travel world of car rental. Highway US-36 is close by and heads in a southerly direction, towards Denver and Aurora, before leading to the interstate I-25 and ultimately Colorado Springs, Fountain and Pueblo. In the city itself, many locals simple prefer to cycle, since Boulder is has become well known for being particularly bicycle-friendly.

Denver International Airport is the biggest international airport in the whole of America and just 44 miles / 71 km to the southeast of Boulder. Each year, around 50 million travelers use the airport, flying all around the world. The main airlines here include American Airlines, Big Sky, Delta, Frontier, Northwest, US Airways and United Airlines. Downtown boulder is connected by inexpensive bus transport and taxis, outside of the Jeppesen Terminal building, which is divided into a total of three separate concourse areas.

Those choose to hire a car after flying into Denver Airport will be able to enjoy a unsurpassable level of freedom. However, the main roads and thoroughfares around Boulder can become very busy and congested at times. Parking in the city center can also be hard to come upon, although there are some large parking lots hidden behind some of the buildings within the downtown district, which usually have some empty spaces. If you are looking to park within the University Hill area, you will usually find that parking here is expensive. Rental cars are the perfect mode of transport should you wish to travel outside of Boulder.

Buses provide a regular service around the city, with bus routes and timetables being available from the Boulder Station / Transit Center, on Walnut Street. The Regional Transportation District (RTD) operates the public transport network around Boulder and Denver, with regular Skyride buses traveling to and from the airport. Around the city itself, buses travel on a very regular basis, running as frequently as every ten minutes or so during the busiest periods. RTD Route B buses travel between Boulder Station and the Market Street Station in Denver.

The city of Boulder has become very well known for its extensive network of cycle pathways and subsequent thriving bicycle culture. Cycling is a very relaxing way to travel around the city and many locals favor transport as their number one mode of transport. In total there are also 80 different cycle paths and underpasses dotted around Boulder, allowing you to avoid traffic jams and cycle in relative safety.
