Boulder Shopping and Boulder Shopping Districts
(Boulder, Colorado (CO), USA, US)

Boulder Shopping: Central view of Pearl Street shopsThe shopping scene in Boulder is very much based around the downtown district and in particular, around Pearl Street, Arapahoe Avenue, 28th Street and also 29th Street. Further shops are also based around the Foothills, the Broomfield area, East Boulder and around the University Hill district.

Shops around Boulder generally remain open seven days a week, opening between the hours of 09:00 to 21:00 or later, and again on Sundays from 11:00 to 18:00, although obviously these shopping hours do vary a little, particularly at the smaller local outlets.

If you had just an afternoon to spend shopping in Boulder, then the place to start would be at the Pearl Street Mall, which dates back to the late seventies.

This open-air pedestrianized mall covers some four blocks, being filled not only with shops and eateries, but fountains, small gardens, sculptures, street entertainers and a rather lively selection of nightspots. The Boulder County Courthouse is a good point of reference and lies on the northern side of the Pearl Street Mall.

Boulder Shopping: Picture of Pearl StreetAnother significant shopping area is 29th Street (Twenty Ninth Street), which opened as recently as 2006 and was built on the site of the former Crossroad Mall. Twenty Ninth Street comprises a number of adjacent strip malls and large department stores, such as the Foley's store, which has actually traded in this part of Boulder for more than 25 years.

The Village Shopping Center resides within the very heart of Boulder, on Arapahoe Avenue, and is home to around 40 different stores, a small number of eateries, and also a multi-screen cinema.

Boulder Shopping: Photo showing 29th StreetLocated on the corner of Table Mesa Drive and South Broadway, the Table Mesa Shopping Center is well worth considering, particularly since its comes with a large car park and great mountain views.

Close by and on the southeasterly outskirts of Boulder is the Flatiron Crossing, a vast and modern shopping center best described as a 'mega mall'. For something different and a little more traditional, consider spending an hour or two at the seasonal bi-weekly Farmers' Market, which takes on Wednesday and Saturdays, between April and October.
